Bio Keith Minick

Co-Chair, NVFC

Keith Minick started his career as a volunteer firefighter in 1989 with Silverstreet Volunteer Fire Department and later joined Friendly Volunteer Fire Department both in Newberry County, SC. In September of 1991, he became a full-time career firefighter with the City of Newberry Fire Department where he retired in May 2022. During his career, he worked his way through the ranks to Lieutenant in 1999, and Captain in 2004 was promoted to fire chief in 2008 until retiring in 2022. Keith served as an adjunct instructor with the South Carolina Fire Academy (SCFA) and served as SCFA Region 7 Coordinator from 2005 to 2009. In November 2012, he was appointed to be the South Carolina Firefighter Mobilization Coordinator for region 7 and holds that position to date.

Keith has served the Presidency chairs of the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association from 4th Vice President to his status of Past President and served on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Foundation. He is a graduate from the 2012 Leadership Institute through the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association and Leadership South Carolina class of 2014. He attended several classes at the National Fire Academy in Maryland; Anniston, Alabama training site; and University of Nevada Fire Science Academy. In 2022, Keith was appointed to the National Volunteer Fire Council Board of Directors representing South Carolina. He has been appointed to the Newberry County Rural Fire Board and serves on the training committee. He is a member of the Newberry County Haz-Mat team and serves as Chief for the Bush River Volunteer Fire Department. Keith currently works as the Safety Director for Metal Masters Inc. and resides with his wife and family in Newberry County.
