Bio Brad Kavetski

CHAIR, HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE

Brad Kavetski began his fire-service career in 2007 and currently serves as a career Fire Captain with Horry County (SC) Fire Rescue & EMS Department. Captain Kavetski serves as the Vice President of Horry County Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4345. Captain Kavetski is a nationally registered paramedic and obtained his Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services from Pennsylvania College of Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science Management from American Military University. Captain Kavetski also has been awarded Fire Officer Designation from the Commission on Professional Credentialing and is a 2022 graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Managing Officer Program. In 2018, he was a co-founder of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN)-South Carolina Chapter, whose mission is to help firefighters, EMS professionals and their families cope with cancer. Through his role as FCSN State Director, he played a pivotal role in forming the South Carolina Cancer Coalition who facilitated the passing of the South Carolina Firefighter Cancer Health Care Benefit Plan. Captain Kavetski is a 2020 graduate of the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Leadership Institute and has severed on the Health & Safety Committee since 2021.

Captain Kavetski and is his wife, Mindy has a son Bennett, and twin daughters, Kennedy & Colbie who enjoy spending their time attending professional baseball games, camping, hiking, and travelling to new places.
