New Release: Emergency Response to Highway Incidents

September 20, 2013

The South Carolina Fire Academy Online Learning Community (SCFAOLC) announces the release of a new awareness-level course for all responders: Emergency Response to Highway Incidents. The course will be available Friday, Sept. 20. Developed in cooperation with the S.C. Department of Transportation, the Columbia Fire Department, and the S.C. State Firefighters’ Association, this free four-hour course is dedicated to Columbia Firefighter Chance Zobel, who lost his life while working at fire incident alongside a highway. Course topics include temporary traffic control measures, arriving and working safely on the scene, and the National Unified Goal. The course also includes two in-depth case studies of South Carolina responders who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities. These studies reveal the importance of offering this training to all responders. This course does not require pre-registration. Simply create an account and self-enroll using ERHI as your enrollment key. To access the course site, visit scfaonlinetraining.org. If you need help or have a question, please contact our staff at [email protected] or call Bob Simpson at (803) 896-0520.
