Legislative – Why

In fulfilling our mission to:   serve our membership as the leader in advocacy, benefits, education and safety while acting as the steward of the Firemen’s Insurance and Inspection Fund”; a vital component of the Association must be to participate and foster working political relationships on behalf of the membership throughout the state.  The Association acts as a hub of information and a focal point for advocacy in and with many first responder sensitive topics.

The need for constant vigilance is ever present when protecting the safety of citizens from other special interests.  The purity of the Association’s approach to legislative issues is paramount – it is not self serving – it is citizen serving.  The Association seeks to represent membership in areas involving codes, enforcement, recruitment and retention of a strong workforce, support of a business friendly atmosphere, and maintenance of a safe working environment for all South Carolina employees.

To accomplish this, the Association must stay active in the political environment of our state and nation.  The Association travels annually and stays in constant contact with our federal delegation; and has a strong visible presence in Columbia at the statehouse.
