The SC Firefighters' Foundation is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as the financial marketer and fundraising contact to support the outreach mission and goals as set by the Foundation Directors. The Marketing Coordinator will work under limited supervision to establish and implement marketing campaigns and processes to support the Foundations' mission. Salary is DOQ and the position will be posted until filled.

Foundation Mission: The S.C. State Firefighters’ Association Endowment Fund was established July 11, 2001, as a Foundation through which firefighters, fire departments, corporations and citizens may contribute financially to promote any of the following: • efficient and effective firefighting • increase public awareness in the area of fire and life safety • enhance Firefighter public image • provide educational opportunities for firefighters and their families


Provides leadership, direction, strategy, and administration for the overall marketing opportunities of the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Foundation. Oversees the implementation of the fundraising strategies of the Foundation and assures that the Foundation’s Directors of activity and growth of the Foundation funds. Promotes the mission of the Foundation. Implements outreach strategies as deemed appropriate by the Directors. Provides updated progress to the Directors and fire service members through professional communication, reports, various meetings, and conferences. Represents the Foundation at numerous social and professional activities.


• As the Marketing Coordinator, oversees all fiscal growth opportunities and activities of South Carolina State Firefighters’ Foundation; • Develops short- and long-range strategic plans to promote the financial development of the Foundation; • Gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendations; • Works with outside groups to plan and implement projects and partnerships; • Initiates, conducts and/or attends meetings to discuss Foundation related programs and projects to communicate and garner support for such projects; • Represents the Foundation at various local, regional, and national conferences and meetings; serves as liaison to other state and federal agencies, various associations, other professionals and the general public; • Prepares reports for submittal as required by the Directors; • Attends training, conferences, seminars, meetings, etc., to maintain awareness of the Foundation; • Articulates the mission of the Foundation; • Communicates with the public and the fire service regarding the programs and services of the Foundation; • Works with all committees of the Foundation in formulating and modifying marketing policy and procedures, to include periodic planning sessions and workshops; • All other duties as assigned by the Foundation Directors.


• A demonstrable work-related history of marketing, fundraising, and interpersonal skills that will lead to excellence in relationships with fire service members, the public, and elected officials; • A basic knowledge of the programs and services of the Foundation is desirable; • Provision of a clear background check will be expected upon interview; • Must obtain/have and maintain a valid SC driver’s license; and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Previous demonstrable skills in marketing or sales; • Ability to develop new approaches or methodologies to solve problems not previously encountered by analyzing, synthesizing, or evaluating data or information using unconventional or untried methods; • Ability to negotiate, exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policy and programs or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions; • Ability to handle or use machines, tools or equipment requiring brief instruction or experience, such as computers for data entry, fax machines, copiers, telephones, or similar equipment; may service office machines, including adding paper and changing toner; and • Demonstrable personality traits conducive to marketing and outreach.


The work is considered sedentary, involves walking or standing some of the time, and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. The work requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: balancing, mental acuity, and speaking.


Work environment involves exposure to no known environmental hazards; and involves decision making that could lead to major organizational consequences.
