The Town of Moncks Corner Fire Department has an opening for a Battalion Chief. Under the direction and guidance of the Fire Chief, the Battalion Chief manages the operation of one of our fire stations, they are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and supervising activities of their assigned station which includes the management of personnel, fire prevention and training activities, and oversight of major programs to include the EMS program. Within the framework of standard practice and department policy, the Battalion Chief operates with considerable latitude for independent decision making. The Battalion Chief’s responsibly includes the mitigation of emergencies through responsive and effective management of fire suppression, emergency medical, rescue, haz-mat, and other incidents that pose a threat to public safety. Mitigation of emergencies may involve performing hazardous tasks requiring strenuous physical exertion for extended periods of time in cramped surroundings, hot, smoky environments with limited visibility and at considerable heights. Reports to the Fire Chief. Must be able to pass department physical examination, firefighter physical ability assessment and background check as required by SC 40-80-20. Must be able to wear and use PPE & SCBA. A high school diploma is required. Six months of advanced study or training in fire service principals of leadership and management are required. Associates in fire science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of eight years of progressive, responsible fire service experience, with at least two years of experience as a Fire Captain. Valid SC driver's license required, NFPA Fire Officer 1 & 2, NIMS ICS-400 Advanced Incident Command, Current National Registry EMT or higher required. Salary range $55643.15 to $ 86247.60
